September is Pain Awareness Month
We do not want to live in pain and no one should put their health at risk in an effort to be pain free. Medications can be prescribed, and in some cases, they only mask pain. Opioid risks include depression, overdose and possible addiction.
There are safer alternatives to consider for pain management.
Physical and Occupational Therapists can be consulted for pain management:
- They can improve quality of life through hands-on care, patient education and prescribed movement.
- By increasing your physical activity you also can reduce your risk of developing chronic disease.
- Endorphins are released by exercise and they help to decrease or eliminate painful sensations.

Pain treatment takes teamwork.
Consider consultation with a PT or OT and choose better health.
