Phillip’s Success Story

Phillip was referred to RCCA through the Health Care District of PBC and Healthy Me following emergency Cervical Fusion surgery for Cervical Myelopathy in January of this year.

When Philip began physical therapy at RCCA, he required the use of a rolling walker and was only able to walk short distances very slowly. He lacked strength throughout his body, was unsteady walking, and was unable to go up or down a step. “I couldn’t raise my arms up. I could not feel my R hand, so I could not write or feed myself well,” stated Phillip.

With the help of RCCA physical therapists Emily Large, PT and Ceci Lester, PTA and occupational therapist Camy Dreifuss, MS OTR/L, Phillip is now able to walk independently, go up and down steps and lift weights with his arms. Regarding his rehabilitation at RCCA, Phillip says “I’m stronger – without this therapy, I would not have gotten this far.” With his therapy wrapping up, Phillip is now starting employment as a groundskeeper.

Summer Preschool

After a short break, the children have returned for a fun-filled summer learning session. In a stimulating environment, they enjoy activities that encourage movement, such as battle ropes, and spark curiosity through engaging dinosaur lessons. Play-based experiences also support fine motor development with Play-Doh and imaginative play with farm animals. The playground offers an important space for socialization, helping children build friendships during these formative years.
