Spring Luncheon 2005
An Event to Raise Friends, Funds and Fun!

Spring Luncheon Committee: (Standing) Susan Kirkpatrick, Pam Mettler, Linda Hunt, Nellie Benoit, Julie Reveley; (Seated) Mary Harper, Christine Aylward, Joan Van der Grift, Sue Strickland

Chairman Susan Kirkpatrick and Co-Chairman Pam Mettler are preparing for the annual Spring Luncheon to benefit the Rehabilitation Center for Children and Adults on Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at 12 o'clock noon at The Beach Club. Gunster Yoakley & Stewart, PA, represented by Daniel Hanley is the sponsor for this event. For more than 65 years, the Rehabilitation Center for Children and Adults has remained dedicated to improve people's physical function, communication and independence. The Spring Luncheon event provides an opportunity to raise friends, funds and fun while celebrating its important mission.

Other valuable contributors to the Spring Luncheon include past Chairwomen Tami Collier, Trish Donnelley, Paget Ferrell, Denise Hanley and Joan Van der Grift. Carol Collins underwrites the floral centerpieces.

Committee members making their reservations include Christine Aylward, Ann Blades, Linda Salandra Dweck, Cathy Flagg, Patricia Francis, Mary Harper, Linda Hunt, Roshan Massoumi, Kim Raich, Leslie Randolph and Tina Roberts while welcoming new committee members Nellie Benoit, Julie Reveley and Sue Strickland.

The cover shows Chairman Susan Kirkpatrick and Co-Chairman Pam Mettler with 3-year-old Betsy Huerta. Because Betsy had shoulder weakness at birth (Brachial Plexus), she has received Occupational Therapy with Donna Holmstock since her first weeks of life through the Rehabilitation Center. Preschool Director Leslie Kelly reports that Betsy enjoys learning on the playground and in housekeeping with her classmates. She works to strengthen her right arm to improve her fine motor skills for dressing, eating and holding her paper when writing her name. She is motivated, beyond her years, to use her weaker arm for carrying large objects, opening containers and even uses her left arm to assist her right arm when she cannot bring it high enough when dancing. She lives with her parents in West Palm Beach where the family cooks great big meals.

Staffed by a team of dedicated professionals including licensed physical, occupational and speech therapists, the Rehabilitation Center also has an indoor heated pool as one of the modalities for treating people with diagnoses such as arthritis, stroke, joint replacement, sports or work injuries. Medicare and third party payers are billed. The Rehabilitation Center is located in Palm Beach on the corner of Royal Palm Way and Hibiscus.

Proceeds from the Spring Luncheon will benefit the Rehabilitation Center for Children and Adults' comprehensive outpatient medical rehabilitation programs. Funds support services for families who are under- or uninsured.

The friendly staff welcomes tours anytime. For more information about the Rehabilitation Center for Children and Adults and the Spring Luncheon, contact Pam Henderson at (561) 655- 7266, ext. 11 or info@rcca.org .
